Can Mobile SEO Help my Non-Mobile or Local Business?
Google published recently a study saying that mobile search volume could exceed desktop search volume by the end of 2014. If this might be true for certain
geographical areas (and probably not the ones that are coming now to your mind) and age groups; there's quite a bit more nuance to the trend.
We found Rand's analysis on MOZ Whiteboard Friday very helpful to understand that nuance and how we can level-up our mobile game in ways that will benefit our local, non-mobile businesses.
Is mobile important to your locan business - Video
The most crucial points to assess the importance of mobile to your business are:
- Are your customers and prospects mobile users?
Our research has shown that mobile use changes during the day: During office hours Desktop/Laptop use is higher, in the evening hours mobile use is significantly increasing, even when desktop/laptops are available in a household.
- Is your business likely to searched on a mobile device
typically Clubs, Restaurants, Bars, especially in the tourist industry as tourists will browse local offers on their mobile devices
- Do you have access to your website's analytics (Google analytics or other)?
Analyze the current mobile traffic and most visited pages by mobile devices
- Run a PPC campaign on Google, Bing and Facebook to get access data from visitors that are not your traditional visitors.
